The Best Kept Secret

Winter in Wine Country is “the best kept secret”-- at least that’s what I’ve always thought. I landed here in Sonoma County 8 years ago (almost to the day), and I have been working in the wine industry ever since. This means my career, and that of many others who work in Wine Country, relies on the kindness of tourists. We all know spring, summer & fall (harvest) are all wonderful seasons to visit.
But what most don’t know is….

In the winter accommodations are less expensive & more available, and when you visit wineries or tasting rooms in the winter you will often receive a one-on-one with a knowledgeable associate. Frequently the owners & winemakers are around for tours and lengthy tastings sometimes including select library wines – this by way of contrast to the other seasons when crowds can be three deep at the tasting bar and associates are running back and forth just trying to keep everyone happy. Winter is so much more relaxed. We are able to talk with you and really get to know you and the styles of wine you prefer.

Of course you may run into the occasional winery that is “closed for the winter”, but with so many places to visit there won’t be any problem adjusting your itinerary. Plus, let’s face it folks -- even on our rainiest days the weather in wine country is way better than most places in the country during the dead of winter. So plan your next winter vacation to Sonoma County and you will be pleasantly surprised.
We look forward to seeing you.
Cheers
June
