Today we are doing a quality control pass in one of our premium Pinot Noir Vineyards, Yellow Rock. Located in the Sonoma Coast Appelation. During this pass we look for any fruit that doesn’t make grade for this stage in the life of the Grape.
Anything with bird or yellow jacket damage, sun damage, green or clusters that are not fully in color.
This takes time and is another expense of growing grapes but when the grape buyer receives the grapes into the winery it is exactly how they want it. It also allows our guys to have a nice clean pick when that harvest night comes. Probably within two to three weeks at this vineyard.
Today I am a bit sluggish, not used to the nights of work yet, then bouncing back to the daytime tasks that don’t just stop because of harvest.
Next stop for the day is our fifty acre install in Sebastopol.
Have a super duper day.
Thanks,
Tony
