As you all know, Sonoma County has a lot of great eateries, and now an exciting new restaurant has opened up that is especially near and dear to my heart. My very good friend Kristine Bodily-Gallagher recently opened a lovely place called “Savvy on 1st”. It’s in rapidly up-and-coming Cloverdale—and, you guessed it— it’s on 1st Street.

For the past 10 years Kristine has run a thriving business catering events of all kinds, all over the North Bay. I worked for her in front of house for quite a while so I had an early introduction to her delicious cooking. For those of you who have only ever been on the receiving end of a catering gig—it’s brutal work!

Anything can happen, and everything does! You have to be able to think on your feet and solve all logistical and personality problems at a moment’s notice and still keep that sunny smile on your face. Needless to say, Kristine and I have been through some crazy times together.

And now Kristine’s perseverance has paid off and she’s achieved her goal of opening her own fabulous café in Wine Country–the food is warm and comforting just like the owner. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 9AM to 3PM and she just opened up on Friday evenings savvy chickenfor dinner, too (while Kristine’s knockout brunches are still my favorite, the Friday-night fried chicken is not to be missed—try it out while you catch the bands at “ Friday Night Live”).

It’s great times when your friends succeed and live their dreams. We at Locals are big supporters of Savvy on 1st, and Kristine is, of course, our event caterer of choice.
